The Power of 12 Days: How Transformation Unfolds

Sometimes, change happens so naturally that we don’t even see it until we look back. That’s what makes the 12 Phases™ so powerful—they reveal the quiet, unconscious shifts that move you forward, even when you feel stuck. I recently witnessed this firsthand in a 12-day coaching journey, where a client moved through a remarkable transformation, even before they fully realized it themselves.

The Challenge: A Sense of Uncertainty

When we began, my client—let’s call them Alex—was struggling with a deep sense of uncertainty. They weren’t lost, exactly, but they felt disconnected from their own direction, unsure of what was holding them back. They had tried logic, problem-solving, even forcing motivation, but nothing seemed to click.

Rather than searching for an immediate answer, we focused on something else: where Alex was in their personal cycle of growth.

The Turning Point: Trusting the Process

As we explored their experience through the 12 Phases™ lens, something fascinating happened. Alex started recognizing patterns—moments of resistance, unexpected clarity, and even hidden strategies they had been using without realizing it. The shift wasn’t about “fixing” anything. It was about seeing what was already at work within them.

By Day 6, Alex still didn’t feel different. But they were responding differently. They were more aware of their own unconscious process, and that awareness was already shifting their next steps.

The Transformation: A New Perspective

By Day 12, the real change became clear. The hesitation they felt at the start wasn’t a sign of failure—it was a natural phase of their cycle. With this awareness, Alex wasn’t just moving forward; they were moving forward with clarity. The same circumstances were there, but their relationship to them had changed.

And that’s the essence of transformation—it’s often clearer in hindsight.

The Takeaway: Your Growth is Already in Motion

When you’re in your 30s, think how differently you are from your 20s; in your 40s, your 20s seem unreal. This is a natural development process. If you feel uncertain or stuck, you’re not off track, it’s just a phase of your own growth cycle. Exploring the 12 Phases™ lets you see the process is in motion.

****** A Story ******

One of my subjects was a 20-year-old woman whose life already had so much change that it seemed chaotic. She admitted, it made no sense to her. We mapped her history on the 12 Phases™.

Childhood Troubles

In her early childhood, the family house burned down, her mother left to help her family during a period of deaths and was gone for two years, and her father failed to care for her adequately.

In her first twelve years, not yet forming a conscious opinion about her life, her body reacted to circumstances. She was diagnosed with asthma at five years old during the time her mother was gone. She almost drowned twice, at age 7 and age 9. In her 12th year, she was bullied so bad at school that her parents moved several states north.

At age 13, she was raped by a mentally unstable uncle. She didn’t tell anyone; she became depressed and anorexic. She moved back to her hometown and accelerated her high school education with college courses. After graduating with a college degree, she and her boyfriend moved to Colorado.

Choosing Differently

When she was 19, she heard that the uncle who raped her was assaulting her cousins. For their sake, she then told what he had done to her. She turned toward helping abused women and started a business making good bath salts. When I met her, she and her boyfriend were moving into a house, “developing roots,” she said.

In her early childhood, Life Cycle Phase One™, her body spoke of the difficulties and stress. Becoming ill, then nearly drowning twice, and then ultimately being bullied at school, she was unconsciously insisting on her parents’ attention. They responded by moving to a new place, but there she was raped; being silent, her body again signaled the crisis with depression and anorexia.

When she discovered that the uncle was attacking her cousins, she decided to tell her story. This crisis and her solution happened in her Life Cycle Phase Two™, where recovery from the impact of her early life came through setting personal priorities. Her response was to turn away from the direction family circumstances had given her.

Life Priorities

First, she made a determined difference in her high school education by adding a college education. She then made a break from her family by moving far away with her boyfriend. Finally, at 19, she stepped out of hiding from age 13 and made the choice to tell about the rape. These choices show a personal development motivated by all the troubles she did not cause. Her choices in Life Cycle Phase Two™, through age 23, are building an unconscious priority system – with fervor – that will serve her as she matures.

In every challenge of becoming mature, you keep what is like you; in this way, you grow, naturally. The 12 Phases™ system reveals the unseen order within your unique life experiences. With the 12 Phases™ system, your progress in the growth process can be seen; it shows the trend in positive direction.
